After more than two years combing the market in search of a good-looking, effective fluid bed filter that actually worked and at a reasonable price – we gave up!!! And decided to make our own.

We’ve taken the best bits of some of them and a bit of imagination and designed and manufactured THE NITERYTER.

We consider our unit to be as good if not better than units costing £400 plus and cheaper than most of the rubbish selling for around £200.

THE NITERYTER is the most complete unit on the market.
Twin NiteryterIt will take any size pump over 4000LPH. The bypass system, controlled with ball valves, lets the correct amount of water to fluidise the media while not restricting and damaging your pump, the bypassed water simply rejoins after the media chamber.
A non-return valve is fitted as standard to prevent any media back siphoning.
THE NITERYTER has a 14cm clear acrylic viewing section so it can be installed in any direction and the media remains visible for flow adjustment. The section is small enough that sunrays cannot affect the bacteria growth.
The unit can be fitted inline up to 1.5” solvent (2” if specified) or with hose tails (supplied if requested) for any size flexi hose.
THE NITERYTER is designed for easy maintenance, if ever needed. A 4” threaded access plug with threaded coupling enables you to get right inside the unit. The base has pre-drilled holes for securing to a level, stable base. The correct amount of media will be supplied with the unit plus extra in case of an accident or for topping up.

Niteryter - 4000 & 8000Two sizes are currently manufactured – a 4000 gallon and 8000 gallon units. Any size can be built to suit your needs and space requirements. (Left) Twin Niteryter purpose built.

Each unit sold is water tested for at least 12 hours, so you won’t experience the horrors others have when purchasing inferior units.

Why use a fluid bed filter?
Simply it consumes the Ammonias and Nitrites caused by fish waste. Your existing filter, if working correctly, should do the job, but the majority of fish waste is in liquid form and is consumed much quicker and more effectively by a fluidised bed.
Remember Ammonia and Nitrite are the biggest killers of Koi. They act like an acid to fish, burning their flesh, fins and gills causing inevitable death if exposed for too long.

How does it work?
Because the media is in a constant fluidised state the entire surface area of each particle will be covered in neutralising bacteria. In conventional filters the surface area is decreased due to the media being ‘sat’ against each other.
The Niteryter will house 10 times more bacteria than a conventional filter and on a mature pond will only take up to three days to become active.

Do you need one?
The only good reading from a Nitrite or Ammonia test is no reading!! Zero readings must be strived for, this will give you healthy water and healthy fish.
The Niteryter can also increase your stocking power, it will support the addition of around 50 kilos of fish.

The Affordable Fluidised Bed Filter

As you can see The Niteryter and Buffy can be combined to give you top water quality and clarity at such low cost.

For those without gravity fed systems both units can be run on a separate pump with pre-filter. The results are just as good.
